Cops are psych tested, but of course they are not going to tell how they truly feel etc. They fool the system hence you find out about them and how they feel after a situation happens and then you find out about them. I am a cop and I am a Good cop and the situation was bad and that is def not how we are trained. That was based on his bad actions and judgement and he clearly should'nt have been a cop to begin with. Your brother seems like a good cop and a good person. There are good cops out there that are just as good. There are 99% of good cops in this profession its just the 1% that mess it up just like you have bad in every profession the media is just shining the light on law enforcement in the midst of all this chaos and tragedy, but we are not all bad.
